Striving in the park after dark

Circle, circle,
witch’s cove,
four river birch trees
from the old witch grove.
Oldest trees among the park,
greenest leaves
and the roughest bark.

The old witch weaves,
and the young ones dance,
as the four trees move
in the witch’s trance.
Enemies kissed
and lovers strove
after the spell

that the old witch wove.

Take your lover
in your arms,
move away
from the witch’s charms,
forget your strivings
in a kiss,
and tell the witch:
Remember this.
